JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (CBS Tampa) ? Surfers in Florida might want to think twice before heading out into the water.

A great white shark measuring at 14 feet, 6 inches and weighing 2,000 pounds was tagged on Sunday close to a popular surf spot in Jacksonville. According to the Florida Times-Union, Chris Fisher, founder of Ocearch, a nonprofit organization focusing on acquiring data on the biology and health of sharks, helped tag the great white shark, which was the first to be tagged off the Jacksonville coast.

?After days of relentless determination, the OCEARCH team was able to successfully tag and release the first great white shark off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida,? Ocearch wrote on its Facebook page. ?Meet Lydia, weighing in at approx. 2,000 lbs at 14 ft, 6 in!?

Discovering Lydia comes about six months after Ocearch found a great white shark, named Mary Lee, weighing close to 3,500 pounds off Cape Cod.

Tissue samples and blood work were taken from the shark before it was tagged and released.
