The firm has established itself as an independent and highly credible convener and source of public policy information and public opinion research.
Mass Insight Education and Research Institute is an independent not-for-profit organization focused on improving student achievement in Massachusetts? public schools. Through public outreach initiatives, school leadership training programs, and public opinion and policy reports, Mass Insight Education supports the implementation of the 1993 Education Reform Act, with a primary focus on its central initiative, the statewide standards and testing program.
Position Description:
To develop and implement a highly successful communications strategy that supports advocacy initiatives and escalates MI?s brand awareness both locally and nationally. Outlets utilized will include all forms of media including the full array of social media. Additionally, the campaigns will result in potential partners seeking out MI based on their perception of MI?s strong capabilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees imbedded staff in groups.
- Manages numerous communications projects simultaneously
- May manage consultants at various times.
- May lead cross functional teams to develop communication
- Will receive administrative support
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a multi-layered communications effort with large target audiences including: elected officials, business and community leaders, teachers, principals, education leaders, parents, opinion leaders and the media.
- Create editorial and communications materials including print publications, web site content, email and listserv messages, presentations and speeches, guest editorials and other materials..
- Developing and managing an ongoing media outreach strategy including planning news events, serving as a point of contact for the media, and producing press materials.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor?s degree in English, Communications or Journalism.
- 8-10 years of demonstrated successful marketing communications experience
- Superior writing, speaking, interpersonal, communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to network, ideally within media, policy makers, key stake holders and funders, and to use network successfully.
- Demonstrated capability to utilize all forms of media
- Familiarity with state policymaking processes.
- Strong ability to develop relationships.
- Creativity, ingenuity and vision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of economic relevant to Massachusetts.
- Keen interest in education reform.
