Beautiful Election Day Weather
Dry air is in place over North Texas, dry enough to allow neighborhoods from north Fort Worth to Denton to Gainesville to drop into the 30s this morning.? And that same dry air heats up more than 30 degrees to the middle 70s for the afternoon.? Sunny skies with light winds will make for an absolutely beautiful day for voters to get to the polls.
?
November Nor?easter
While Texans bask in the sun, the Northeast prepares for a powerful storm system to develop just off the coast of Long Island, NY.? The Nor?easter will reach peak strength during the late afternoon and early evening hours Wednesday.? The biggest issue with the storm will be the wind and the consequent high surf.? Gusts to 60 mph are possible from New York City through Long Island, Hartford and Boston.? A Storm Watch is posted for the coastal waters off Long Island including Long Island Sound and run up to Boston.? Waves heights of 8 to 12 feet are possible near Long Island with 7 to 10 feet wave heights possible toward Boston.? The air will cold enough for snow, but significant accumulations are not expected.? Washington DC is calling for a mix of rain/snow with a steady temperature near 34 Wednesday, but accumulations less than an inch.
?
Work Week Warming, Turning Windy
Our forecast runs close to 10 degrees above normal for the afternoons starting Wednesday running through Saturday.? Winds remain light Wednesday, but pick up from the south at 10-20 mph Thursday then 15-25 mph Friday and Saturday.? Humidity returns to North Texas on Friday and you?ll notice it with a layer of clouds by the time you wake up Friday morning.? The cloud layer will break apart through the day, but we will stay partly cloudy throughout the day with those gusty south winds.? A deck of clouds will develop again Saturday morning and will produce a few spot showers in the morning and into the afternoon.? The likely trend will be partly cloudy skies, windy and dry for the afternoon with temperatures possibly reaching the middle 80s.? With the approaching cold front for Sunday, rain and storm chances look best for Sunday afternoon. ?And strong to severe storms are possible with strong upper level energy accompanying the front. ?The timing ?may shift a bit and could put rain chances on top of North Texas for church services on Veterans Day.
